New substations at Erap and Hidden Valley

The new Erap and Hidden Valley substations that will supply the Hidden Valley gold mine in Morobe Province were completed on March 31, 2010.

Contractor Dayen Pestech Joint Venture (DPJV) completed the K40 million project, fulfilling their contract signed with PNG Power in 2008.

DPJV CEO Paul Lim said it was a challenge putting up the substations because of PNG’s rough terrain, road and weather conditions but in the end, he was proud to deliver a high-tech substation for PNG Power’s use.

PNG Power CEO Tony Koiri when accepting the handover plaque at PNG Power’s head office in Port Moresby, said it was a big project and he thanked DPJV for completing the project on time.

Mr Koiri said he could not have been happier as it meant PNG Power was one step closer to getting the Hidden Valley gold mine connected to its power supply.
