Boito gives K1m for Obura Rural Electrification
Member for Obura Wonenara Hon John Boito today presented K1 million to PNG Power for rural electrification (RE).
The member also signed a MOA with PPL CEO Tony Koiri to release a Toyota Landcruiser vehicle to assist PPL’s RE project team during the project. The vehicle will be returned to the district after the project completion.
Mr Koiri, when accepting the cheque thanked the member for the funding and said the money will be used to complete the remaining 5km power line extension to Tairora High School. Mr Koiri also requested cooperation from the landowners and communities to ensure the project is completed on time.
Mr Boito assured PNG Power that his people were ready to assist in building the power lines.
“We want to ensure Tairora High School gets the service as a priority and I also want to give my people the opportunity to be involved in micro businesses,” he said.
The member said his district officers have been working closely with the communities doing awareness on the positive outcomes of the electricity service.
