Customer Services Senior Manager, Upa Minga made the presentation on behalf of the company during the grand final of the competition to the league officials infront of players and spectators at the Kone Tigers Oval on Sunday, April 1.

The leagues officials responded to the gesture by repeatedly making announcements to the crowd and the Waigani and Morata residents to support PPL in its efforts to provide essential electricity services.

CEO Tony Koiri committed a total of K25000 in 2011 for 5 years and this year’s payment is the second instalment.

The league officials have agreed in principle that one of the smaller cup will be called the ‘PNG Power Cup’.

The major price is the Governor’s Shield which is a K200,000 sponsorship under the suburban sporting activities.

Mr. Minga added such community relations have helped a lot in carrying out company related work such as the meter survey.

He said Morata was successfully covered in the survey and in order to sustain normal operations in the high risk areas within the city, we have to start working with the communities. He also extended this gratitude to the CEO for the hindsight in involving the company in such community oriented activities.

Mr Minga also had the opportunity to speak to those who attended the event regarding the services PPL provides and the dangers that comes with it if proper standards are not complied with.

The community leaders joined the league officials in expressing their appreciation for the support PPL has given as sports is one key activity which assists and keeps the youths occupied in the streets.
