Power Ltd is proud to provide support to the 2015 Pacific Games Organising Committee as a Platinum Sponsor.

We believe the 2015 Pacific Games will unite Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Nations and as the electricity provider of this great nation, it is an honour to be part of the games.

PNG Power CEO John Tangit says PPL was happy to be part of the games and give back to the country through the Pacific Games. “PPL has agreed to provide PNG 2015 Games Value in Kind (VIK) sponsorship for a total value not exceeding PGK 6.5 million (GST exclusive).

“The VIK will comprise the Electricity connection to infrastructure, Electricity lines to central points at games venues, Stand by generators, Operational support, for operating and maintaining the generators and other infrastructure between during the games and leased generation in lieu of PPL network supply,” said Mr. Tangit.

The games venues that will be covered under this where PPL will provide electricity are the 2015 Pacific Games village at UPNG, Taurama Aquatic centre, Sir John Guise indoor stadium, Sir John Guise main stadium, Rita Flynn indoor netball courts and the Bisini Parade sports centre.

Mr Tangit said that PPL will set up all infrastructure and equipment at its own cost on or before March 1 2015 and all sites to be fully connected to power sources and operational by June 2015.

He also said that PPL will be responsible for any safety and OHS matters relating to the operations of the various equipment and service machinery. PPL will appoint a suitable engineer from its staff to oversee this project/operations from June 1, 2015 to July 31st, 2015. The appointed engineer will ensure maximum efficiency of effort. Electricity supplied to the permanent facilities will be metered and is included under the sponsorship arrangement, said Mr. Tangit.

Mr Tangit said that PPL was looking forward to working in partnership with the 2015 Pacific Games Organising Committee in delivering the best ever games of the Pacific.

He highlighted that through the then ELCOM, we were there in 1991 South Pacific Games in Port Moresby, which was one of our successful years in sporting history. Back then, as a major sponsor to the games, ELCOM contributed K520,000 in cash and kind.

As part of its assistance to the Games, the Commission was heavily involved in providing power to the new Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby, the main venue for the Games. A sponsorship similar to this one.

The Commission also had players who participated in some of the individual and team games and also supplied volunteers of staff who contributed immensely to the games. This shows the wonderful partnership and long association the company has had with the games which I am very proud of.

With that, PNG Power is looking forward to once again supporting the games and working in partnership with the 2015 Pacific Games Organising Committee in Delivering the Best Games Ever of the Pacific, concluded Mr. Tangit.
