A total of 52 trainees graduated out of PNG Power Training College as electricalmechanics last weekend.

The trainees came from OK Tedi Mining Ltd, SP Brewery, British American Tobacco, UMW Niugini, Lihir Contracting Service, Coca Cola Amatil, Paradise Food Limited, Brain Bell & Co, Kenmore Limited, Pom Electrical, Aisi Bishman Contractors, SBS Electrical, TE PNG, Curtain Brothers and Ramu Agri Industries to take courses in electrical and mechanical engineering for a period of 8 weeks.

During the graduation, 23 young men graduated with certificates in Competency Based Training Level 1 and 29 including three female received Apprentice Extension 2 certificates from the apprenticeships program.

PNG Power Training College Manager Camilus Liaia thanked the sponsors and organisations for sending their staff to train at the college.

Mr Liaia told the trainees to continue with such training in the future and to apply what they had learnt in their respective organisations and workplace.

PNG Power Training College is a registered training organization with National Training Council. It is a trade test center as approved by the National Apprentice Trade Testing Board to conduct trade test of Electrical Mechanic Fitters.

The college is currently enrolling students for Competency based training in level 1, 2 & 3 and is also conducting apprenticeship extension block courses for level 1, 2, and 3.

The college is also is in the process of registering other trade areas in Diesel mechanics, Power Station Technicians, Lines mechanic and Machine Fitting Machining and will continue to provide these training in close consultation with NATTB.
