Power restored to Kranget Island in Madang

Power supply to Kranget Island, just off Madang town was restored on Friday, February 10, 2017 by PNG Power Ltd. Kranget Island was without power for 20 months due to damage caused by sea currents on the submarine cable carrying electricity supply from Madang town.

PPL boosts Engineers conference with K50,000 donation

PNG Power has added a power boost of K50,000 to the Institute of Engineers PNG (IEPNG) to host its National Conference in April. This financial support gives the state-owned electricity company the platinum sponsorship right. PPL acting GM for Operations and Maintenance, Luke Malemba said the company have over 200 engineers and it feels right to support the conference.

PPL SIGNS MOU FOR SOLAR FARM AND BIOMASS PLANT WITH WNB PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT AND KOREAN FIRM

PNG Power has signed another Memorandum of Understanding with the West New Britain Provincial Government and South Korean company, K&P Limited today to assist with the feasibility study into the development of a 5Mw solar farm and 10Mw biomass plant. This is the second MOU signed in a space of one week to allow for studies to be carried out into the development of renewable energy as a source of electricity supply with a Provincial Government and K&P Limited.

PPL pays K1.6 million owed to CEPA

PNG Power Ltd (PPL) set a benchmark today by paying a total of K1, 642, 070.02 to Papua New Guinea Conservation & Environment Protection Authority (CEPA)

NEW LOOK CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRE OPENED IN PORT MORESBY

PNG Power Ltd opened its new look Customer Service Centre at its National Office at Hohola in Port Moresby last Friday. The opening marks the beginning of four (4) other new look Customer Service offices to be launched and these include the CHM Gordons office, the Mt Hagen Business Centre and the Lae Customer Service Centre.

TRAINEESHIP PROGRAM BOOSTING WORKFORCE

The apprentice and trainees training under PNG Power Ltd’s (PPL) recently revived Apprenticeship and Traineeship programs are having a positive impact in the power stations and distribution systems thus boosting morale for permanent staff members in maintaining a reliable power supply for customers throughout all PPL centres.

MANUS INTO EASIPAY SYSTEM

PNG Power Ltd (PPL) is now converting credit meters in Manus to Easipay meters to make electricity service accessible and customer friendly. This conversion gives Manus customers full purchasing power and puts an end to credit meter billing issues many customers have faced for decades. The Easipay conversion project in Manus began on 19 September and PPL will ensure all customers are converted to Easipay.

PPL GIVES K10, 000 for IIA’s 12thANNUAL CONFERENCE

PNG Power Ltd (PPL), for the first time, offered its support and assisted the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) with K10, 000 to organize its 12th annual conference in October 2016. As part of its community service obligation in supporting human resource development in PNG, PPL presented the cheque of K10, 000 to IIA Board Secretary Ms Polin Mae today at the PPL National Office.

PPL & IFC TO PURSUE ROOFTOP SOLAR PROJECT

An agreement signed between PNG Power Ltd (PPL) and International Financing Corporation (IFC) will now set the way forward for the private sector in Papua New Guinea to participate in rooftop solar project. A Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) signed on Wednesday 03 August 2016 allows mutual corporation between PPL and IFC to pursue rooftop solar power generation. Rooftop solar power refers to the installation of solar panel on residential houses’ rooftops to produce electricity.

Mt Hagen business centre reopened

The PNG Power Ltd (PPL) Mt Hagen office has been reopened for business.The business centre was reopened on Monday, August 1 for its valued business clients and customers in the Western Highlands Province.
