PNG Power Ltd donates K20,000 to Cheshire DisAbility Services

PNG Power Limited has once again thrown its support behind the charitable work of the Cheshire DisAbility Services of PNG this month.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr Alex Oa presented a donation of K20, 000 to assist the Charity Organisation, to continue its good work of assisting persons living with disabilities to live a normal life like abled-citizens.

During the presentation held at the PPL headquarters in Port Moresby, Mr Oa said as part of PNG Power Limited’s Community Service Obligations and Good Governance, it will continue to provide the support to Cheshire Disability Services to continue its good work within the community.

PNG Power had made a commitment to donate K10,000 to the Cheshire DisAbility Services annually since early 2000.

This year it has decided to increase the donation by another K10,000 to K20,000.

Mr Oa said such assistance would continue yearly, depending on the cash flow of PNG Power Limited, throughout the years.

Along with this donation, PNG Power Limited also supports Cheshire DisAbility Services through its PPL Staff Charity Committee.

The PPL Staff Charity Committee is a Fundraising Committee which raises funds to assist charity organisations through the efforts of the staff.

The PPL Staff Charity Committee has assisted the Cheshire Disability Services with donation of funds and food during Independence and Christmas celebrations over the years.

Chairman of the PPL Staff Charity Committee, Mr Lester Hakalits has also made a commitment to make a donation of K5,000 to the Cheshire DisAbility Services.

From time to time, PPL Charity Committee volunteers amongst other Corporate Companies, to assist fundraising activities held by Cheshire Disability Services. One of the main fundraising activities, PPL Charity Committee involves in is the Cheshire Disability Services Sausage Sizzle, held every Saturdays at Foodworld Shopping Mall.

Mr Oa said so long as PPL was in operation, it would continue to provide such support either through the company assistance, or through its Staff Charity Committee to ensure this close relationship was maintained for the good of our people living with disability, who need such assistance.
