PPL GIVES K10, 000 for IIA’s 12thANNUAL CONFERENCE

PNG Power Ltd (PPL), for the first time, offered its support and assisted the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) with K10, 000 to organize its 12th annual conference in October 2016.

As part of its community service obligation in supporting human resource development in PNG, PPL presented the cheque of K10, 000 to IIA Board Secretary Ms Polin Mae today at the PPL National Office.

“I’d like to thank PNG Power Ltd for coming to our aid at a time when PNG is going through some struggles at the moment financially and we’re very happy that you are able to sponsor us so we could have a fruitful conference this year,” Ms Polin said.

Acting General Manager Strategic Planning & Business Development Mr Togaro Asiba said internal auditors are important professionals in an organisation and it’s appropriate to give them the support they need to boost their efforts put in their organisations as professionals.

“We’ve been here 50 years ago, and accountants and auditors will be a vital part of us until today. Markets are changing and at the same time, our accountants and auditors need to be supported to withstand changes and take the company forward. On behalf of the PPL Board and Management, we are proud to sponsor IIA,” Mr Asiba said.

According to PPL Manager Internal Audit Mr. Steven Piel, this is the first time for PPL to sponsor an IIA’s annual conference with K10, 000.00.

IIA conferences are held once a year where various speakers are invited to speak on various topics in regards to Internal Auditing and Risk Management. The conferences are held annually to advocate and promote the value that internal auditors add to their respective organizations. It also promotes comprehensive and professional education and development opportunities for the auditors.

“The IIA conference brings together internal auditors from all sectors (both government and private) to share information and experiences. Auditors can learn from each other on how they conduct their audits and add value to their organisations,” Mr Piel said.

“This is the beginning of a mutual relationship with PPL and IIA in the long run,” Mr Piel added.
